Unmanned car and TJArk robot soccer team shines in 2016 World Robot Conference


The 2016 World Robot Conference was held in Beijing from October 20 to October 25. As an important part of the Conference, the2016 World Robot Competition held as scheduled, attracting the participation of more than 500 teams, and more than 2,000 participants from more than 10 countries and regions. Unmanned car, TJArk robot soccer team from our college took part in the unmanned driving challenge competition and Robocup Challenge competition respectively, and both have performed well. The results are beyond satisfying: the unmanned team won the second in the final, and TJArk robotic soccer team won third in the red ball group and the second in black and white ball group.


This unmanned driving challenge competition includes four events, including cornering, tapering, overtaking and automatic parking. The event attracted the participation of many R & D and manufacturing enterprises, universities and scientific research institutions. Our team performed quite well in the game, and was courage by the members of the former CPPCC National Committee Chairman Jia Qinglin, at the same time well received by the organizing committee.


The Robocup Challenge competition was more intense. Compared to last year's, this Robocup Challenge competition turned out to be more advanced, more professional with larger scale and more influence. Apart from six domestic high-level colleges and universities including Tongji University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Beijing University of Science and Technology, this competition also attracts the participation of world strong teams of the University of Texas at Austin and the University of New South Wales in Australia. As the champion of China and top 8 in the World RoboCup, TJArk robot soccer team has beaten the teams of domestic universities. Although it was defeated by two world strong teams, it has gained well recognition by the competitors with its fast walking speed, precise target recognition, and accurate positioning. Finally, TJArk has won third in the red ball group and the second in black and white ball group, which ranked no. 1 among Chinese teams in both groups. As a result of outstanding achievements, the team was interviewed by CCTV news channel, CCTV focus group, Xinhua Net, Beijing TV, Oriental TV and many other media.


At the same time, it is commendable that the two teams showed relevant technology and carried out exchanges with teams from home and abroad. It has gained good recognition and praise from other teams, which further enhances the influence and publicity of Tongji University.
