Circulation and Technical Support

Department: Library

Reports to:Senior Library Assistant

Position Summary

NYU Shanghai Library is currently seeking an enthusiastic circulation and tech support intern to join the unit. Intern in this role will be assisting library clerical work including services to patrons at access/information desk and technical support services.

Responsibilities

Access/Information Services

1、rovides assistance to library users requesting related materials including books, periodicals and reserve materials.

2、Answers telephones and provides routine information or refers and transfers calls.

3、Handles routine complaints and answers a variety of questions at the access/information desk.

4、Shelves books, magazines and other library holdings according to numbering sequences.

5、Assures accurate library shelving by shelf-reading and reshelving of materials.

6、Compiles a variety of statistics concerning library usage and book circulation and maintains library records.

7、Assists with library program preparation and implementation, as directed.

Technical Services

1、Performs routine book maintenance and processing including pasting date due stickers, typing spine labels and adding barcodes.

2、Assists in inventory library materials, comparing database records with stacks and verifying accuracy of information.

Other

1、Operates a variety of standard office and library machines.

2、Performs a variety of library clerical tasks, as assigned.

Administrative Assistant

Department:Library/ATS

Reports to:Executive Administrative Assistant

Position Summary

This position provides administrative support to library staff and patrons and perform a broad range of clerical, secretarial and general office duties.

Responsibilities

1、Assisting in prioritization of various office activities.

2、Assisting in maintaining and ordering library supplies.

3、Assisting in creating report and preparing related material.

4、Operating standard office machines.

5、Other miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Qualification

Required Education:Bachelor’s degree.

Required Experience:Experience working in office environment is preferred.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

1、Good knowledge of the English language, written and spoken.

2、Knowledge of clerical practices desirable.

3、Proficiency with basic word processing, spreadsheet, and adobe softwares desirable.

4、Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.

5、Ability to pay attention to detail.

6、Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with superiors , associates and general public.

Lab and Dorm Support

Department:Technology Services

Reports to:Lab and Dorm Support Manager

Position Summary

Help to maintain the computer labs, monitor network infrastructures, printers, and other IT equipment and services in dormitory. Troubleshoot and resolve regular service issues related to the computer hardware, software, network, and peripherals; quickly resolve the client inquires; proactively monitor services and system to detect and report emergency incident; help to supervise the daily activities of part time employees (student); log daily service record and report to Lab and Dorm support manager.

These positions will be primarily based in dormitory and require a duty shift to provide continuous service support from 7:30 am to 10:30 pm during the business day.

This position will be as well rotated within the technology services department if necessary.

Responsibilities

1、Assist with troubleshooting and resolving regular service issues related to the computers, network, IP Telephones, printers, and other IT equipment and service in dormitory, ensure technical service is continuously operational in dormitory.

2、Log daily service record, monitor services and system to detect and timely report any possible emergencies.

3、Take the assigned day/night duty shift to provide continuous service support from 7:30 am to 10:30 pm. Help to arrange and supervise the student workers in dormitory.

4、Liaison for dormitory IT services. Escalate all the complex issues to Lab and Dorm support manager in a time manner.

Qualification

Required Education:Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

Required Experience:Experience of providing technical support and troubleshooting for hardware, software, and networking issues.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Knowledge of popular computer/mobile device system, knowledge of networking, networked services, multimedia applications, and system administration or equivalent combination.

Preferred Education:Bachelor's degree in computer science, educational technology, or related field.Preferred Experience:Experience of system and software deployment. Experience of inventory management.Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Familiar with Mac/Linux, Virtual Machine management.
